Research Description:
I am interested in gene expression differences of males and females and how these evolve. In Drosophila, my focus is the evolution of sex chromosomes and their gene content. In Daphnia, on the other hand, the gender is not determined by sex chromosomes but via the environment. I study these species because I am also interested in the effect of cyclic parthonogenesis on the evolution and expression of sex-biased genes.
