Main research interests and activities

A. Comparative anatomy, ontogeny, and systematics of molluscs by application of ultrastructure research, immunocytochemistry (ICC) combined with Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM), and computer-aided 3D-reconstructions.

B. Comparative ultrastructure and neuroarchitecture of sensory organs in fish and invertebrates.

C. Comparative anatomy, ontogeny and ultrastructure of invertebrates to reconstruct the phylogeny of the Metazoa.

D. Theory and methodology of phylogenetics, systematics and taxonomy including DNA-banks and DNA-barcoding activities. Role of systematics in biodiversity research and global change policy.

F. Evolutionary theory and creationism.
