LSM Summer Research Program

International Summer Research Program 2012

The Graduate School Life Science Munich (LSM) is inviting outstanding bachelor (at least 7th semester) or master students with a strong background in natural sciences to join us for eight weeks of compelling and demanding research. Participants are expected to be deeply interested in working in the lab and in being a contributing part of a research group. Willingness to work and extensive efforts will be requested from the students (attendance is obligatory during regular working hours). Scholarships are available.

Starting date is Monday, August 6, 2011 (arrival on Saturday August 4, 2012). The Summer Research Program will start with a welcome meeting on Monday morning. In the following, the students will start practical work. During the program all participants will have the opportunity to get in close contact with LSM graduate students, to get insights in current PhD projects and to get an impression of the challenging LSM graduate program. At the end of their stay all participants will present the results of their work explaining their reserach project within the Summer School.

Application deadline will be March 26, 2012.

As a participant you will collaborate with other international students to

  • work on fascinating and demanding topics in Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry
  • operate state of the art scientific equipment
  • sharpen your scientific and technical skills
  • develop your presentation and scientific writing abilities
  • get to know Munich and its environment

Research projects are currently offered in the following fields:

Genetics, Plant Sciences, Microbiology, Evolutionary Biology, Cell Biology, Systematic Zoology, Systematic Botany, Pharmacology

For your successful participation you will receive

  • Confirmation of participation
  • 12 ECTS Credit Points

In order to help applicants from abroad to finance their participation, the following is provided and paid for by LSM :

  • Travel expenses

In addition to this you may apply to LSM for full reimbursement of your accommodation costs. You will receive your travel expenses upon your arrival in Munich. Should you wish to apply for reimbursement of your accommodation, please mark the appropriate box on your application form.

If your application is accepted, you are required to make a payment of €100 for deposit which will be returned to you in cash upon your departure.
