Application 2013

For the LSM International Summer Research Program 2013 applications are welcome from excellent students in the natural sciences (e. g. biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, biotechnology, medicine or a related discipline). We accept students from all countries except Germany. Please understand that students, who are already persuing a PhD or doctoral study, are not eligible to apply for the LSM International Summer Research Program.

To be eligible, applicants are expected to:

  • pursue their Bachelor (at least 7th semester) or their Master studies
  • provide evidence of excellent academic records
  • be fluent in written and spoken English and have to document their proficiency in English (e g. proof of successfully completed TOEFL or IELTS, stay/studies in an English speaking country, education was in English). These proofs would benefit an application. Delivery of appropriate documents or proofs is strongly recommended, but not compulsory.
  • plan to pursue a PhD at the LMU Munich
  • be willing to perform full-time research, sometimes with late night and weekend work

Please note: you have to apply with our online application tool:

Recommendation letters

For your application, at least two letters of recommendation are mandatory. One of the letters has to be provided by your Bachelor or Master supervisor. The letters of recommendation are submitted electronically by the referees. Further instructions are given in the online application system. Please be aware that your application can only be processed after we have received both letters of recommendation. The deadline for submission of recommendation letters is April 5, 2013. All applications which lack these letters after that deadline has expired will be considered incomplete and will therefore not be processed any further. It is your responsibility to make sure that the referees submit the letters of recommendation to the coordination office in time.

After registration to the LSM online application system, eight different tabs allow you to enter all required information and to upload corresponding documents. Prior to submission your personal application form can be revisited and modified at any time. Make sure that your application is complete before you submit by clicking the "submit" button in the upper menu. After submission you will no longer be able to edit the entries (except name, password and email). However, you will be able to view your submitted data throughout the application process.
The submission of an applications is only possible, if all required fields (marked with a yellow triangle) are filled out. Non required fields are optional but it is recommended to fill out all those fields which support your personal application.
